In 1890 Henry Broughan Guppy published his Homes of Family Names in Great Britain. Guppy had made a particular study of the names of farmers, whom he described as 'the most stay-at-home class of the country'. PRISK being a name he categorised as 'peculiar'; meaning to be found mainly in one county - in this case, Cornwall.

This is backed up the IGI where over 99% of the entries of PRISK[E] are in Cornwall. It appears most PRISK did not begin to emigrate from Cornwall untill mid nineteenth century; around the time when the tin depression began...
