'50s-spec Roasted Maple P Bass Neck Roasted maple necks have become quite popular among guitar and bass players here at Sweetwater. Why? Well, the roasting procedure removes almost all the moisture from the wood and collapses the cell walls, which increases sustain and makes the neck much more insensitive to humidity and climatic changes. If you gig far and wide, you'll appreciate this next time you play Miami after a week in Phoenix. As roasting removes moisture, it also removes weight for better balance and playability. And as a bonus, roasting gives maple a rich caramel color. So if you're looking to upgrade your Fender P Bass or P-style, you'll definitely want to consider the Fender Roasted Maple Vintera '50s Precision Bass Neck. Note: Every neck and guitar is different, and a final setup, including filing the nut slots and a final fret leveling, may be required after installation on
From the Manufacturer
There’s no denying the allure of a roasted maple neck. Resistant to humidity shifts and featuring a gorgeous, dark look, they have more sustain and add a unique note to the instrument’s voice. This genuine Fender Precision Bass neck is crafted at our Ensenada, Mexico manufacturing facility. Featuring a “vintage C” neck profile and 7.25"-radius maple fingerboard with 20 vintage frets, for classic playing feel. The synthetic bone nut is pre-slotted with "pilot" grooves for accurate spacing when filing the final string slots. The perfect way to give your Precision Bass authentic Fender feel, this replacement neck even sports our famous “spaghetti” logo on the headstock. Because Fender genuine replacement necks have not been mounted to guitar bodies, nut slots must be cut by qualified personnel. Other installation processes may be required, such as fret work, fitting the neck to the neck pocket, and other instrument setup procedures. Your local FMIC Authorized Service Center can install genuine replacement necks; find locations near you in the “Support” section of fender.com.
