Ordered a roof weathervane. Used a galvanized pipe for base. Painted it. Used metal clamps to secure it to our metal fence that is anchored in concrete. Put a screw through base pipe to snug down the inserted weathervane post. I made it too high and can not see it from inside the house. I will cut off some of the bottom pipe to get it the right height.We love the look and are enjoying it. Thanks to the makers of this product.UPDATE; lowered the pole but could not see the dark copper look with trees as a backdrop. So painted the cardinal, pinecone, arrow, spinning cups, and the N,S,E,W Letters. Now we can see it easily. We recently had a rain storm with hail and it still looks great. Used a clear coat over the paint to protect it.

Great quality, easy to assemble, a child could put it up in 10 minutes. Use a rubber mallet to pound into the ground and you are good to go.

The little cups turn in the wind but the arrow and cardinal do not, so the arrow always points in the same direction. I can view it head- on from my window so it gives me a good view, but others are not privy to the silhouette. We tried a little WD-40 but it didn't make any difference.

This item is sturdy and beautifully made! Works as described and is reasonably priced. The picture directions were easy to follow and it was not hard to install. I love the way it dresses up my garden shed! I am very pleased with it and look forward to enjoying my weather vane for many years to come.

Good quality weathervane and foolproof installation, but the weathervane/cardinal is not red as advertised. The entire product is a bronze color.

While it is very pretty and easy to assemble, the wind cups are stuck after only 45 days. Can not gauge the wind speed any longer. The bearing is supposed to be sealed, obviously not. Moisture and dirt has gotten into it preventing the wind cups from freely turning.Very disappointed considering it is fairly expensive and lasted such fes days.Since 30 days have passed I can’t send it back.Contacted the manufacturer, but all I got was a patronizing response to add oil to the bearing. No, it doesn’t help. I asked for a replacement bearing, but was ignored.
