The FREE T4 is a great tool that is improved by having the covers replaced by the better feel of the titanium sides. They add a bevel to the edges and counter sink the screws. They do not feel slick like the original covers and are also not magnetic. They are easier to install than the original covers as the magnets keep trying to grab the steel but not the titanium. Using the two you tube sites - one take apart and one put together this is an easy alteration with great instructions. The new titanium sides weigh the same as the old ones so there is no change in the total weight of the tool after the installation. Great improvement to a fine product!

These work great! Very happy with them. The install was only slightly difficult, hardest part was getting stock scales off, be careful not to strip the screws. The blade has some minor "wiggle" after install and tightening down, but not enough to be an issue. Very happy with these replacement scales.

It was a nightmare to change the scales on the leatherman T4. Luckily there are videos on YouTube. Once finished however, these were just what the T4 needed. I have a renewed appreciation for my multitool because of these beautiful nicely priced copper scales.

I loved the look of these when I got them and was so excited but they don’t fit correctly. When installed the tools are super loose and I’m guessing because the holes in the scales are recessed and the OEM ones are not. Had to put the original ones back on unfortunately cause I really liked the look of these. I think they need to remake them and refund people or give them a new model….A follow up after the initial review. I gave it some thought and figured I could try to use a small spacer to help with the tightness. Luckily I had another multi tool that I took two washers out of that were the same size as the ones on the Leatherman. As you can see in the photo I put them on side of the clip to try and help hide them. Fortunately this fixed the problem and it’s all a tight fitting now. It’s sad we have to do this to make them work and the creator needs to get rid of the recessed hole so that the post isn’t too long for the screw which is why it’s not tightening without a washer. Hope this helps people cause this mod drove me nuts👍

The parts wobble with two scales installed. It's the problem with the design or manufacturing precision. Eventually I had to use only one replacement scale and one original scale as pictured. Also it's hard to replace the scales of T4. I feel they are not meant to be replaced.-1. It requires two special uncommon screwdriver heads (not the common hex key sets).-2. The knife has several magnetic parts. When you take off the original scales made of steel, it's almost inevitable to draw out the magnetic parts. The magnetic parts then draw out some other parts and it turns into a mess. I had to watch some youtube videos to learn how to re-assemble the knife. With the wobbling problem, it took me over 3 hours to get to a solution that used only one replacement scale.

These are gorgeous scales; they don't add too much more weight. I wish to tell you that they are easy to put on, but Leatherman has ensured that isn't the case. Nonetheless, some patience, and attention to detail, and you will have them on. If you plan to do any other upgrades I recommend doing them while you have it taken apart. Zap Wizard makes a scalpel holder to replace the blade on the LM Free Series, so if you intend to do something like that, do it all at one time.Bottom line, for the price, this is a no brainer upgrade to your T4!

These are super-nice new scales for your T4 if you want to give it a new look. I won't exactly say that install is a breeze - taking apart a Leatherman isn't generally for the faint of heart - but there are tutorials on YouTube, and with some patience you should be able to handle it. The new scales look and feel great, and are definitely attention-getting. Definitely recommended.
