Our house was built in 95 so the original closet door hardware had shot the ball bearing out the top of the hardware. Not a bad thing since they were still gold and everything else was bronze. Install was about 10 minutes but that is because I am OCD and made sure the door fit just right before calling it done. Love the adjustable height of the ball bearing. It allowed me to get it where the tension was enough to close flush with the other French door but not so tough that made it difficult to open and close.

I think every door in my house with a "false" handle uses these. The originals are now 16 years old or more and still working great. Had to replace one recently. With a lot of use, they do wear just enough that eventually the ball will come out.. but we're talking A LOT of use. The one I had to replace is the kitchen pantry which probably gets the most use.

Had a cheaper crummy version of this and constantly had to adjust them. This works perfectly. High quality

Great alternative to resized doors. I had to cut some doors to save on expensive alternatives or custom jobs. after resizing the width of my door and getting it all painted and hung, I realized that my latch wouldn't fit with the now closer already cut door knob hole. instead of doing a lengthy process of fill in the door knob hole and re cutting, decided to use these ball latches as an alternative. they are much shorter and luckily the two doors I had to resize their width were closet doors so these ball latches did the job! I don't mind the idea that my door knobs turn but don't open the latch...your always going to turn and pull at the same time. Very smooth operation, very easy to move the ball to accommodate your door opening with a flat head. Very reasonable clicking sound when you open the door. the Brushed bronze met my color of my door knobs close enough that only I as the installer would notice the difference.
