I was excited to finally get a moisture meter, and the PH and light meters were just a bonus. I have used the moisture meter in my houseplants, my flower gardens and my vegetable garden. I feel it is accurate and while instinctively I know when to water, this is a nice back up verification. As far as the light meter, it does not measure any light at all for my inside plants, they might as well be growing in the dark. Even in a bright sunny window, the light reading was minimal. Outside, in the shade was about the same. In direct sunlight the gauge moved to light. So that is really no help to me. As far as PH goes, I live in Central Texas where everything is built on limestone. We are alkaline. I tried it in many different plants using potting mixtures from many different companies, and they all came out alkaline. It doesn’t matter what the PH of your soil is to begin with. If you are watering with alkaline water, you will get alkaline soil, no matter how much acid you add. So that meter is really no help. But I am glad to have the moisture meter. And I think the price was fair for 2 meters.

We started this year’s vegetable garden just a few weeks ago. Previously, I had to guess whether the plants were getting enough water, or the PH level. As far as sunlight, that was a hope, since this little side garden was really the only place I could use for vegetables.I’m just going to say it – this is one of the better bargains on Amazon. You get not one, but two testers that each give you 3 different readings for moisture, light, and PH level. Guess what? They don’t need batteries. They are so easy to use. You just insert them deep into the soil switched to whatever it is you want to test. Then after you get your reading pull the tester out and wipe off the probes. That’s it. I can almost taste those tomatoes, cucumbers, and green peppers. These soil testers are going to be a big help.

Not sold on how well these work. I have had varied results and don't entirely trust the readings I have been getting. The light meter has been useless so far. It hasn't moved at all regardless of how bright it is.

These really work! I tested them out in my garden and compared both in side-to-side spots - they were accurate to each other. Also, when I moved them to test the acidity near my newly planted blueberry bushes, I saw the acidity number inch up when I moved the meter closer to the actual plant, where it was probably benefiting from the higher acidity planting materials the grower used (blueberries like more soil acidity). And I learned my soil is really alkaline/high ph - need to use some amendments! Readings appear almost instantly. The light meter works too - I noticed in the outdoors that the number will be lower if you stick it in the soil, and higher if you point it towards the sky - the sensor is on the face. Good way to test indoor lighting levels. And the moisture meter works really well too. Very easy to use - can move the switch on front to test all three things without moving the meter. Great that there are two - I'll use one outdoors and one for my indoor plants. This is a fantastic value in my humble opinion - recommend!!

I think these will probably work for my purposes. The two attached photos show a test on very dry soil followed by after giving a houseplant some water. I believe it needs more water and the meter shows that as well. Where I really want to use these is my raised garden beds outside (it's pouring rain at the moment). When I plant, I use the "square foot gardening" method so my beds are very full. This will make it easier to know when they need to be watered or last year I know I had a couple of beds that dried out quicker on one end probably due to the ratio of fill I used when I started the beds. Anyways, I think these will make my guess work a lot easier and prevent me from overwatering in some areas. The two pack is simply a bonus since I am one to set my stuff down and then wonder where it went. I'd buy these again.

Very helpful and informative, especially for new growers like myself

I'd rate this at 2.5 stars if I could.I found this 3-Way tester to be a disappointment for the following reasons:1. The light meter is insensitive and unresponsive indoors. It only seemed to work okay outdoors. It needs a Hi-Lo scale.2. The pH meter when tested with standard 9.8 test solution registered just over 7. It read the same as near as I could tell with plain tap water. (See the first picture)3. The moisture meter, when immersed directly in water only measured about 5.85 "Moist." So what would it take to get it to measure "Wet?" (See the second picture)Bottom Line: Spend more, get more.

These get the job done and seem to read accurately, but they are kind of flimsy in quality. I'm not sure how long they will last. They read all three factors nicely though and I will keep on using them to assess PH, Light and Moisture for as long as they last. It is nice they come in a pack of two.
