This is 16 AWG so it will do better with power for e.g. LED strips than the typical 18 AWG that a lot of manufacturers like to use for LED power distribution. The wires are double insulated and the splitter housing is molded on, so this works fine outside where it will be exposed to rain. The leads are plenty long enough to give room for connections to other wires and outdoor shrink tubing covering those connections.

We installed over head lighting in our newly built and installed built in bookcases. I’m not sure how or what the process was but my his ad said he needed this. I think he also added or moved an outlet using this.

I order the 1:6 connector as I am installing some COB LED Strips in a large room for accent lighting. It is bult with 16 AWG wire which I prefer to minimize resistance over the longer runs (~50’) I need to make from the transformer to the LED Strips and puck lights. This product uses stranded wire, not solid core wire and although stranded wire has a slightly higher resistance compared to solid wire of the same gauge the difference is negligible on runs less than 50’. (Note: this is due to the small gaps of air between the individual strands, which means that less conductive material fits into the same cross-sectional area as compared to solid wire)In my application, 16 AWG is good for 12V – 24V to minimize voltage drop (resistance) of which LEDs are sensitive. For example, a voltage drop below 22V for a 24V circuit will cause the LED lights to be dim, lose color, or flicker (+/- 10%).Most LED strips are wired in parallel (+ to + and – to -) however stringing them end-to-end requires calculation of the resistance (voltage drop) of the first LED strip to beginning of the second LED strip, and the end of the second LED strip to the beginning of the third LED strip and so on. Using this splitter eliminates that an allows you to go directly to the LED strip (or LED puck light) from the splitter, or at least across a wire that has a predictable resistance. It also makes it easy to calculate the watts/amps required from the transformer so that it can be sized correctly. My testing showed no measurable drop in voltage across the splitter and have had no problem running six 32’ LED strips with dropouts, flickering or measurable color changeGreat product, great price, ordering more.An easy five (5) stars for me

I was recently adding some LED flood lights to light the area around the bed of my pickup truck and needed a good waterproof way of connecting 6 sets of lights up to the main power wire that ran to a relay in the engine compartment at the front of the truck. The 2 Wire Y splitter saved me a ton of time and hassle by making it really easy to just use some waterproof shrink tubing butt connectors to connect all the wire runs from the lights to the splitter. From what I've seen, 16AWG @ 12V can handle up to 15 amps of current. Each of my spotlights pulled around 1.5A according to my multimeter, so I had more than enough of a safety margin with the 16AWG wire. The other nice thing about the y splitter is that it really does take up a minimal amount of space and greatly reduces the clutter and makes things look like a professional install when done properly.

Just what I needed for some LED projects. Quick and easy to solder. A little on the bulky side but feels robust and well made.
