  • Installation tips:
  • 1.Turning off the engine, replace the new cooling fan temperature switches after the water in engine radiator cooled to the room temperature.
  • 2.Avoid the external high heat source after installation.
  • 3.Avoid sprinkling water on surrounding auto parts during the installation.
  • Package included:
  • 1 pcs x 3/8" npt Fan Thermostat Temperature Switch

How to replace it?

  • SINGLE SWITCH MODELS
  • 1.Locate the cooling fan switch near the thermostat housing on the left side of engine behind the distributor assembly. The switch wire colors should be green and black.
  • 2.Disconnect the wire terminal from the cooling fan switch.
  • 3.Allow the engine to reach a coolant temperature of 196-203°F (91-95°C).
  • 4.Using a suitable ohmmeter or continuity tester, check for continuity between the two fan switch terminals. The fan switch should have continuity (switch closed) at the above temperatures. The switch should have no continuity (switch open) when the temperature drops between 5-15°F (3-8°C) from the temperature that the switch first had continuity (switch closed).
  • 5.If the switch does not operate within the range of the supplied information, allow the engine to cool below 100°F (37°C) and replace the switch.
  • WARNING
Submerging the electric cooling fan switch below the threads could damage the component. Coolant must be used for this test as the boiling point of water is below the temperature required for testing some of the sensors. Perform this procedure in a safe and well-ventilated area. Do not breathe any fumes from the heated coolant. Wear eye protection and use care to not come in contact with any of the heated components. Do not use a heating device that produces an open flame.

Easy installation and temperature operating range is spot on. It controls the fan perfectly and turns it off at 175° after 45 seconds runs to cool everything as it should.

I am a process control Technician and using 2 calibrated thermometers, found this product to close at 180 degrees and open at 165 degrees. Ran three test. Advertised as a 185/175 degree switch. If running electric fans with a thermostat of 165 degrees or more, the fans will come on and not turn off. Horrible quality control.

I replaced a failed switch with this one and it has been working perfectly for 2 months now.A couple of notes about Temperature Switches:DO NOT wire this directly to an electric fan. Use this switch to trigger a relay to power your fan. (The ground wire from the relay goes to this switch.)Accuracy is a relative term. This is a $13 switch so there will be variations. In 40 years, I have never seen 2 temperature gauges on the same vehicle read the same. Even when installed within inches of each other. (The closest was within 3*, others were up to 20* off.)(High performance engines)200* or even 215* is not necessarily overheating. A lot depends on your tune, timing, fuel, etc..., but if it's not boiling over, it may just be the norm for your vehicle.

The temperature sensor was stated as 170--185 degrees but it had 175--185 degrees marked on it!

Switch worked, it's 3/8 NPT thread. Tested on the stove, turned on at about 185, off around 175...maybe a little less. Seems accurate according to two oil thermometers on the stove and my Autometer gauge. Brass work is nice, nice machining, only time will tell if it's reliable.
