I carve stone, often working on fine edges of delicate material. I want a tool that is precision in shape, so it won’t chatter (bounce) on the stone, risking breakage. Yet I want it to be aggressive in stock removal. A hard combination to find.I once before bought a resin filled, sintered cup wheel and had questions about its usefulness. But I think it may have been too fine a grit, and the sintered parts were spaced too closely together for it to get much purchase in the stone. — However, on this cup wheel, the sintered blades are arranged in a very aggressive placement and spacing, and they are of a course, aggressive 30 grit.I haven’t had opportunity to use it heavily yet, but I did use it to fine-tune the silhouette of a dish I was making. I was impressed with how aggressively it removed stone, but with such a smooth contact that there was no chipping of the rim. Nice! …I look forward to more of this.

This is a well thought out and well made disk. The shell of the disk (third photo) is heavy metal, including the integral threaded hub. The wheel has two flat surfaces ground into the hub where you can apply a wrench if the wheel gets stuck. I put a straight edge across the working surface and it is dead flat (except for the pieces of diamond abrasive, which need to be above the surface. The two holes in the shell appear to have been drilled to balance the wheel. The size and grit are marked on the shell. The green color is really smart. There are no green materials (at least none that I've ever seen) that you would work on using this disc. So, the color vividly distinguishes the edge of the tool from the material, making control and location of the disc highly visible. It spins with no out of balance vibration and does what it is designed to do. It's a real smoothie.

I have a more aggressive wheel that's built differently than this one. The diamond chips are minimal, especially in this price range. The cup construction is rugged enough, but the cutting action is pretty mild (in comparison). I find that this cup excels at smoothness more than grinding ability, and that might be its best function.

My review is based on the 10 segment coarse at a $53.99 price.My quick thoughts:* It was shipped in a thing carboard box with the seams breaking. Not very professional for a wheel of decent value. I know these wheels are pretty robust but I like anything that goes on my grinder to be somewhat protected from any kind of invisible damage.* It looks comparable to most of the other Chinese imports of this style grinding wheel. I would bet that many of these are made in the same factory with a different final label.* This is on the expensive side compared to the competition. About 15 - 20% more than the best priced.* It cuts just fine compared to other 10 segmented wheels that I've used. I can't make any useful judgement on longevity versus others.I wish I had the time to do a head-to-head test of the various imports brands making these disks. My hypothesis would be that most will test very similar because they are probably made in the same factory. So, I think price is really the deciding factor. If this disk was $40, I'd give it 5 stars. At the current price, I'll give it 4 stars.
