These bung caps are made out of tin or other thin metal. They have seals where they contact the top of the bung that makes them watertight and airtight. They are not reusable. They have tear strip tabs that are lifted and torn off to remove the cover. When you pull these tear strips it cuts the cover in half.I wouldn't call these caps a plug because there's nothing that goes down inside of the bung, it just sits on top of the opening. The metal is painted white, but the paint scratches off easily. We have several that have scratched off paint just from being jostled in the packaging. This may make them susceptible to rust if they are in damp environments.I was surprised that there are actually 40 pieces in this set, 20 for larger size bungs and 20 for smaller bungs.
