Unfortunately, poor design allows the probe tip to pull out of the shaft every time it is pulled back out of the soil, allowing dirt to contaminate the internals and exposing the tiny wires which will likely be damaged over time. I will be returning this tester for this one reason.

The build material is a light plastic shell so you could easily break it if you drop it (guess what I did instantly after opening the box? I was able to glue it back together, though). I like how it operates, though - battery powered, thus its power source is REPLACEABLE, just stick it in the ground and wait for a little bit until you get the temperature, humidity, Ph, and sunlight level of a spot in your yard. There's also a hold button but I didn't find it particularly useful because I didn't learn until after I tried it that the hold only lasts for 20 seconds. But it's not a crucial feature so whatever.

This little tool is awesome! This really helps me understand what will thrive in various garden beds! I took a leap last season and planted butterfly bushes and crepe myrtle without knowing their ph preference or the ph of my soil and thankfully they both prefer slightly more acidic alkaline environments. Whew - they shall fair another season! This is really simple and reads out my most important metrics for planting!Reads out in seconds.

I have a different one that I compared the readings to, and they matched, so I'm assuming it is accurate. My old one, you had to leave in the ground for 10 minutes and then get down on your hands and knees to read the tiny numbers. This one is instant, and it is angled perfectly for you to easily see the readings.

Quite a simple helpful tool to use in my garden.Place the batteries,stick in the ground and shortly after you get the results,very simple to use.Seems to be accurate.Decent price.
