The steel used to make these is barely harder than aluminum. They deform badly under moderate torque using a box end wrench. Perhaps 25 ft lbs or less was used to tighten a bolt the washer in the picture was supposed to be locking. These do not serve as proper lock washers as they deform before the nut or bolt is tight.Of 4 washers (3 of one size, 1 smaller) 4 failed.
