Cherries are among my favorite fruits and I eat them often. Until I ordered this cherry pitter, I was unaware that it was possible to get a pitter that would pit multiple cherries at a time. Goodbye to my old pitter that pitted one paltry cherry at a time, and hello new cherry pitter which can pit SEVEN cherries at a time! I had been skeptical when I ordered it because, well, it seemed impossible that such a gadget could actually exist. But it does, and it works perfectly. It’s easy to use and can also be used to pit dates and olives.

I have never used a pit remover before, so this is my first try at this, and it made the job look so easy and cleaner as well. Just line them cherries up and with a single push, the pits fell to the bottom container, very easy to use and quicker than what I have been doing before :). Good spring action from the top, and easy to clean the whole thing as well. I am a believer now. I may have to try this on the smaller longans and see...

The concept of this product is good, but the design needs tweaking. The pros: it's compact in size and easy to store, the plastic is thick and durable, the base fits fine, and comes apart easily to clean. The cons: the rods that force the pits out when the top is pressed down rest within the thick plastic piece that makes up the top. This makes it difficult to completely clean them after use. It is technically dishwasher safe, but my concern is water will get trapped in that piece, retaining soap, and eventually causing mold to form. I would recommend hand washing it only, and being careful not to get water inside the unit. The other con also involves the same top segment. The top requires a good amount of force to depress the button, and if you do not carefully align your hand so that you are using the palm of your hand, you may likely pinch your fingers between the button and the rest of the top piece.I do like that the end result is getting cherries that are not mangled while getting the pit out. All in all, this is good but not great.

I received the cherry putter today and honestly I didn’t get to try it with cherries yet, but I took it out of the box to check condition and quality and to wash it. It looks like it is good quality and easy to use and clean. I like that it holds 7 cherries at a time, which makes preparing a fruit salad pretty fast and easy. It has a simple design and it is small enough to fit in a kitchen drawer specially that you can take it apart as it comes in 3 pieces.

The cherry pitter comes in three pieces, the base is an empty, clear plastic bowl with a mostly flat bottom rounded at the sides; a middle section, with 7 indentations, where you put the cherries to be pitted; and a top section that contains the spikes that will push the cherry pits out of the cherries into the bowl below. The pieces aren't connected; each piece just rests on the one below.Cleaning the bowl and the middle section is easy, as both can go in the dishwasher. Cleaning the top section is a bit more problematic as the spikes retract via springs. Getting too much water into it and/or failing to dry that part of the device thoroughly could lead to rusted springs. I'd be hesitant to put that part into a dishwasher. I washed it by hand carefully and let it dry.Basically, the device does just one thing. So there really are just two questions: the first is does it do that one thing very well? And the second is does the one thing that it does warrant having a device in your kitchen dedicated to it?The answer to the first question is yes, it works and it works well. The answer to the second (for me) is also yes, since I really like cherries -- plain, in cherry cobbler and pie, and in homemade cherry-vanilla ice cream. My (cheap) single-cherry pitter was messy and a pain. This is a definite improvement.Note: I did not try the device with olives, but I fully expect that the experience in pitting olives would be virtually identical. The only downside I observed is that in each press, a few of the cherry pits were reluctant to let go and were still clinging to the cherry they had just been (mostly) evicted from. Since they're hanging below the level of the middle section, it's easy to knock them off, either by hand or with a convenient utensil. Other than that, it worked very well. Recommended if you routinely need pitted cherries or olives.

This 7-in-1 cherry pitter tool saves a ton of time when prepping cherries. It’s easy to use and can pit several cherries at once, which is perfect for baking or making fruit salads. The quick-release feature works well and cleanup is simple. It’s lightweight and portable, but sometimes a cherry or two doesn’t pit perfectly, so I took off one star. Still, it’s a handy gadget for anyone who loves cherries or bakes often.

So this thing actually does work with cherries. It works best if you insert the cherries into the tray with the dimple upright, and of course you have to remove the stems. You will develop your own method as you try it out. It is much faster than any other method we’ve tried, and your speed will increase as you use it. It’s not perfect, but it’s by far the best thing we’ve tried.

Ok, as I evaluate the available space in my kitchen - I do have to ask, do I NEED a cherry pitter? I was VERY stern with myself and still came to the same conclusion. Yes, yes I do. This bad boy pits 7 cherries at once!! All the cherry growing states are rejoicing as there are so many cherry recipes that the world has ignored because, well - they all take so much work. Not any more, my friends, not any more!!! This is so easy to use and is so much less mess than trying to do this by hand, it is just wonderful. Easy to use, easy to clean and the price! This is a great deal!!!!
