I used a square stick in which I whittled round to fit in the round hole. Dowels were too costly and the wood I used were garden stakes. They held onto the branches without causing damage. It was a good price to pay to keep my fruit trees undamaged.

Very easy to use and a good size to the poles I bought at Home Depot. Will buy again!

I am so glad I found these supports! I am training a Catalpa tree and have used Bamboo in the past but adding these to the top of the bamboo made it super easy to train my tree.

These work except you have to find poles or make poles to fit them.

Work well to use on a pole to prop my heavy jasmine vine trellis on the wall. The trellis would sometimes try to fall forward away from the wall so i needed a low profile hook that could hook on the trellis and be hidden by the vine.

This is an item my apple tree needed. Wish they had a little wider opening so more kinds of posts would work.

Bought these for our peach tree. It has been impossible to find support sticks/poles that fit the tiny openings. Amazon suggests push broom handles which are too short and not weather proof. Very disappointed. Everything is either too big around or not big enough. We ended up using supports that are too small for the openings and we check the tree daily to reattach the ones that have become dislodged. They would be perfect if we could find support posts that fit them.

I have an orchard full of fruit trees in all sizes. Supporting the weight of heavily-laden branches has always been a problem that I could never completely solve to my satisfaction. Now I have the solution. These crutch tops are really excellent. You can put them on a pole of any length and they are deep enough to completely support almost any tree limb, certainly my semi-dwarf nectarine branch that is already drooping with fruit. I used both bamboo poles and rebar. The metal of the crutch is good quality and they are very reasonably priced. I like them so much that I ordered two boxes.
