FireWire 800 BETA 9 pin to 9 pin male to male cable, 15ft. Meets all IEEE-1394b standards, plug and play/hot swap compatible, clear FireWire 800 BETA 9 Pin to 9 Pin Cable – 15 Feet, Clear Apple, as well as other computer and equipment manufacturers whose devices connect via serial port, have largely abandoned FireWire as a standard for data transmission. We single out Apple because MacBook Pros and other Apple products relied exclusively on IEEE-1394 technology (commonly referred to as FireWire) many years after USB became the new industry standard; Apple only made the switch to USB and then Thunderbolt around 2012. Only a few diehard producers relying on FireWire are left, primarily for high-end equipment. Just because manufacturers gave up on the technology, though, the millions of people who own older Macs, PCs, video cameras, external hard drives and other equipment with FireWire ports aren’t going to throw their electronics into the trash and go running to buy replacements. It would be wonderful if we all had the money to switch out our computers and peripherals every time the industry changes its standards. Most of us don’t. It’s an even tougher pill to swallow for the folks who upgraded from FireWire 400 to FireWire 800 when it came out. They figured that the doubling of data transfer speed that came along with the new IEEE-1394b FireWire standard would serve them for a long time to come. And they were right; unless they need the newer, lightning-fast capabilities of USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt, FireWire 800 is still just fine – as long as they have the right cables. Guess what we have to offer? Aw – you guessed. The Cmple FireWire 800 BETA cable is designed to ensure that all of your IEEE-1394b equipped devices work at top efficiency for many years to come. It has the male “BETA” 9-pin connectors used by FireWire 800 on each end, is hot swap compatible and supports plug-and-play, so you can just plug this cable into the FireWire 800 ports on your equipment and you’re ready to roll. Our expert designers use high-end twisted pairs and triple sheathing to construct our FireWire cables, so you won’t have any issues with interference or crosstalk. All of your data transfer will be completed with optimal quality and at optimal speed, since this FireWire 800 cable is rated for throughput as high as 800 Mbps, depending on the speed of your devices and ports. The integrity of the cable is protected by fully-molded construction and strong yet flexible PVC jacketing, meaning it should last as long as you expected your FireWire equipped computer and devices to last when you bought them. This cable is available in two colors and several length as well. 3 feet , 6 feet , 10 feet , 15 feet Black , Clear A look at the key specs for the Cmple FireWire 800 BETA 9 pin to 9 pin cable: Twisted pair construction and triple shielding, to reduce crosstalk and maximize speed Rated up to 800 Mbps (limited by device/port speed) Meets all FireWire 800 and IEEE-1394b specifications Molded construction Connectors: two 9-pin IEEE-1394b male, one at each end Plug-and-Play Hot swap compatible Length: 15 Feet Color: Clear There’s absolutely no reason to give up on equipment which is performing well for you, even if the manufacturers have given up on it. You simply need to be sure you have the cables which will let that equipment perform at its best. Cmple has those cables for your FireWire 800 computer and devices, and they’re incredibly inexpensive.

This cable worked fine initially, connected from a external hard drive to an iMac. Once set up it remained undisturbed until today, when I discovered it had quit working. It lasted only 58 days from purchase, which means once installed, it really functioned for only about 50 days. Don't buy this unless you only need it to work for a short time.Addendum to this review: Amazon authorized a replacement, and the seller sent it right away. I am grateful for the quick service and replacement so I added a star. We'll see it this one lasts....

I don't see why or how but this cable failed to work on arrival. I replaced a 6 footer with this new one and after several attempts to get my external drives to mount without success I reduced my daisy chain to just one drive and jiggled the connector at the back of the drive, then it mounted the drive. Another jiggle and the drive unmounted. And I know the problem is not at the new glyph drive firewire port input connector.Unplugged this new cable and hooked my old 6 footer back up and all is good. So this cable was bad from the start.Probably an issue with the pins inside the connector jack. Am returning to Amazon and waiting for a replacement. IF the replacement doesn't work I'll up the value to a better made cable.SO...for THIS cable....my review is low because it was defective.

I ordered and returned two of these - the first didn't work with my firewire 800 device (apollo audio interface) but I just thought I had gotten a manufacturing defect - happens. Second didn't work either, right beside my shorter 800 that works like a charm. The connector is actually labeled 1394, not 1394b - 1394 is the IEEE standard for Firewire 400. If my device would have just worked with 400 I would have had a lower data transfer rate and never known it (thanks Apollo). The bag it came in says firewire 800 but the connector is labeled for the firewire 400 standard and 2 of them didn't work on my 800 device. Could be accidental packing error or deliberate selling of a cheaper cable that would work for many devices but would just give poor data transfer rates. Saw some others commenting about poor transfer rates and this could be why.

Does what it says on the tin. Not too much to talk about. I guess its less stuff than some other cables Ive had.

Item came defective, it works about 5% of the time with no real consistency about what makes it work: jiggling it sometimes helps but usual not. Was offered a refund but it costs about as much to ship the item back to NYC as it's worth, so I'll just throw it out.

Lots of problems using any version of this cable over 6ft with Presonus Studio Live 16.4.2AI. Unfortunately i cannot use anything under 12ft with my setup and the 15ft version of this cable has a ton of issues with the mixer connected to any machine, windows or mac. I did find a brand that works well at 15 feet but it was more than triple the price. If you need anything longer than 6ft to connect your presonus studio live console or other equipment, consider spending the extra money up front. however, the 6ft version of this cable works just fine.

Mi Hasselblad H3D won't communicate with my MacBook Pro with this cable. Maybe a shorter cable of less tan 15 ft may work, but i need length to move more or less freely.- Shielding looks scarce.- Plugs are to wide to plug directly into the deeply recessed Firewire port of my camera. I had to file the sides of the plug down to make it fit.- Cable is clear like in the picture, the shape of the plug is different.- I purchased 4 different cables under 4 different listings and different names, even different sellers, but got 4 identical cables. All of them 15 ft long. NONE WORKED!AVOID!

This great cable came in a coil but was very easy to straighten out. The ends fit right in. The cable itself looks nice with the braided silver and it should retain its good looks for a long time because of the clear coating. Plug and play. Too bad firewire is going out of style.

It works well and seems to be of very good build quality. As it turns out, I've purchased two of these and they're both great.
