This is made well and seems fairly strong. One side is foil like and the other charcoal. It doesn't say which side is up but from what I read, you want the foil side on the outside facing you.

Range hoods for most people are the kind of thing you don’t give much thought. I think we had our range hood for 3 years before I actually noticed how greasy it was. I’m not much better with furnace filters either, but when I did realize it was time to change it, I saw I need to do this on a regular basis.The purpose of the range hood is to remove odors and filter what it draws in. To that end, they need to be reasonably clean. I took the measurements of our old filter, and ordered this one. It was easy to install and it fits perfectly. I like that it’s filled with activated charcoal, and it looks a heck of lot better than the old greasy one. For the price, this is a good value for something very necessary.
