I replaced the R.I.M. (Rear Integration Module) with this part on my 2001 Buick Lesabre and did not have to take it to the dealership to program. I followed some other tips from forums that suggested leaving the key on when you remove the old unit and remove the data plug first and then the power plug. You then plug in the new R.I.M. in the same order with the key still turned on. Everything started working immediately and even the remote keyless entry worked perfectly. I also did not bother to remove the seat back. I simply used zip ties to hang the new unit in front of the old and then taped the two together. I figured there was no reason to do all that if the dealer was going to need to take it out to program. Turns out it fits and I didn't have to do anything else.

Unplugged power wire connector, then data wire connector, and then when installing I plugged in the data wire first, and then the power wire and that avoided any necessary reprogramming of anything. Worked well too.

Watched a YouTube and then ripped out the back seat on my 2000 Buick Lasabre to replace this GM module. Now my power trunk, door locks, heated seats, interior lights, reverse lights etc. all work again!! Have to remove the back seat to get to those 2 small plastic screws, unreal GM, just a horrible design. All else can easily be done from inside truck.

Worked great, easy to replace.Hint: if you replace, with the key in the on position, you may not need the have the key reprogrammed by GM (+$100). just remove the data cable first, before removing the power cable. After install put the data cable first then power cable, it should see the key in the ignition. This worked for me.
