This ADNS-3080 Optical Flow Sensor Module from "Jessinie" did not include any instructions or paperwork. The sell page describes it as a 3 Volt module but the module has both 5V and 3V pins so it's not clear if the 3V pin should be connected to 3V and if so then what is the purpose of the 5V pin? Or if the 5V pin is to be connected to 5V, does the board generate a 3V output? The board has "3DRobotics.com" imprinted, but when searched, produces information that the company is no longer in business but a new company "3DR.com" (which may have partisipants from the original company) is now selling this 3080 board but no instructions are available. So throwing caution to the wind, I connected the 3V pin to 3V and measured 0V at the 5V pin. Adjusting the 3V pin from 2 V to 5V shows no current draw which means there is definitely no regulator output connected to this pin, otherwise there would be some current (but there is none, 0, nada). I am reluctant to connect this board to any of my microcontrollers least it goes up in smoke. I am disappointed because it looked like a fun module to experiment with.
