These are perfect for those tiny little fly hook eyes that us old fogeys have difficulty feeding line through. I also use these for threading needings while sewing. Generally speaking, the ones you buy for sewing have a flat aluminum foil type grip that doesn't hold up. These seem better made and I'm hoping they will last longer. They work exactly as expected for threading hooks and needles. I have to take off a star, however, because they are not accurately described. There is no line cutter on these that I can decipher. In addition, the foam doesn't come off the cardboard packaging for you to adhere the holder to your tackle box. But, a feature they don't mention in the description is that the handle is something of a clip design. It won't hold to something thin but it actually clips and holds well to the metal zipper of my fly vest. That makes it easy to keep one clipped to my hat brim or vest zipper for easy access.

Simple threaders, just like what they use in sewing to thread needles. I was hoping this would make it easier to tie on multiple jigs in a sabiki still configuration. Sadly, this doesn't help that case.Instead though, if you have trouble threading a line thru a tiny hook eye, hopefully, you'll have better luck getting this threader tool thru the eye, and then the line can go into the threader and then be pulled thru the eye.Overall, this is a useful adoption of a sewing tool to the fishing sport, and it has limited uses, but does work.

To begin with, there is simply no easy way to remove the foam pieces from the cardstock they are attached to without ripping the foam and making it very difficult to put them inside a fly box as advertised. It is a HUGE pain in the...neck...just to accomplish this basic task task. IF you mange to get that completed without absolutely destroying the foam holder, it won't be long before you realize these will NOT fit into the hook eye of a size 16 or smaller hook, even if the hook is fresh from the package and the eye is completely free of debris. They do work on size 14 and larger, but let's be real...most people aren't looking to get these for larger hooks, and they simply do not function for smaller hook sizes. They are cheap, so no real loss, but save yourself the headaches and get the C&F brand that actually fit small hook sizes down to 22...
