same fit and quality each year I order. I like the switch to zero-plastic packaging. We switched from manual wall venting and wall air / furnace. March 2020, we switched to a similar capacity heat pump with handler to ceiling vents. These filters have kept the system very clean.

AIRx was a great brand that sold quality filters for a good price. A great alternative to the established brands that you know are overcharging. Unfortunately that seems to have changed. I imagine they got successful and decided they could join in on gouging people.Bought these filters for years when they were $35 for a box of 6. I understand things get more expensive over time, and I'd pay $50-$60 for a box now, but jumping to $90 for 6 in a couple of years is ludicrous and these filters just aren't worth it.

To be fair, I am not a filter expert or molecular engineer. And, the 3M 1500-rated Filtrete filter I am comparing the AirX filter to is so old, it doesn't have a MERV rating on it. However, I have done my research, and this Filtrete filter would now be classified as MERV 12, whereas the AirX brand is supposed to be MERV 13.I do not know if there have been any changes to the type of fabric used to filter out contaminants, but you can plainly see on the Filtrete filter, the folds are much closer together. This means there is much more area filtering out contaminants, and should mean the filter would last longer. Filtrete states 3 months. Unless I have forgotten something, AirX does not state any specific time frame their filters will last. Perhaps these AirX filters are supposed to be 1-month MERV 13 filters? Also, the Filtrete filter has the metal mesh on both the back and front to allow for a sturdier product. On the AirX filter, the metal mesh is just on one side. At 4x and 5x the price, 3M had better have some "perks."I am not sure I am going to get three months use out of these filters, but they fit well, and are definitely better than those cheap green MERV 0 filters. I can't afford expensive filters, so I am going to count my blessings and give these four stars. Not a bad price at all for 6 filters with free shipping, even if they aren't MERV 13 and/or need to be changed before three months.

I haven’t received any promos for this. I recently bought these because stores in my area have been out of almost all filters due to the terrible fires in California. So far I’m impressed with these. They seem to filter out the smoke well, thankfully, as we’ve had crazy bad air for so long. I just changed my filter again today because after only 2 weeks of very unhealthy air it’s already super dark. I’d much rather the filter have the dark crap than my lungs and house! The picture is today’s new filter next to the 2 week old filter. These are shipped in a box containing the 6 filters, no extra wrapping on each filter. At first I didn’t like that, as it was different from what I’m used to, but upon further reflection I’m happy they’re not wasting a ton of plastic to unnecessarily package these. They do have the MERV rating stamped on them, it’s just light and requires some searching to find.

After receiving filters in the mail, I reconsidered, made an educated guess and decided I should not use this product. I have a variable high speed blower (Trane XV80 furnace with ac/heat pump). Furthermore, the age of the house (built mid 1950s) means the duct work is probably on the small side also restricting air flow. A high MERV filter would only serve to restrict air flow even further and make the system less efficient and, to read some HVAC 'expert' posts online, perhaps damage the system. My particular system's efficiency, especially the central AC, is predicated on high air speed/exchange.HVAC is an extremely complicated issue and I fell down the rabbit hole long enough to know I do not know, so I am going with a lower MERV filter to play it safe. I like low utility bills and things that continue to work.Update: Here is my latest thinking regarding MERV ratings and my variable, high speed HVAC system. I use a MERV 8 for day to day filtration, a MERV 4 during -20 or 100 plus days when the system is strained and effeciency is needed and the MERV 13s for short term, dusty situations like home remodeling projects. I live two hours south of St. Louis and do not suffer from allegies just to give you environmental/climate context of these decisions. Hope this helps.

Not a paid review. I purchased these myself. These seem to be excellent filters. Traps very fine particles. Improves the quality of air in my home. I have 2 cats and a dog and have noticed a difference vs cheaper filters. These need to be changed every month to avoid damaging the HVAC system. Original filters I had in I would check every month but never looked dirtier than a new one, even 6 to 8 months later and they were hardly even dusty. A month with these and they were noticeably dirty and in need of replacement. Will continue to buy these. The picture is a new filter on the left, the middle is a filter for the smaller HVAC upstairs after 1 month, and the right is a filter for the larger HVAC downstairs after 1 month. To the people that say these are low quality because they got smashed up in the mail, how does that make them low quality? Damage during shipping can happen to anything. Use Amazon's terrific no hassle return policy and get yourself some new, undamaged ones.
