Sensor temperatures don't agree. Need to adjust the display so each sensor reading is the same. So I don't know how accurate the readings actually are.Took a while to be delivered from the US to Australia.

This is really useful and the remote sensors work quite far away and outside (I out that one in a small plastic bag).

UPDATE 2020: After a couple seasons the sensors have developed some "issues". Whenever they are in extreme conditions, above 90s or below freezing AND/OR the batteries are low, they don't send a strong signal to register on the main unit. The sensors do work, I've checked and they show the ambient temp correctly, but the farthest units don't register a signal inside the house. If its important, use fresh batteries!UPDATE: The batteries of the main unit finally pooped out in early February 2018 almost a full year later! One of the sensors needed batteries a couple months ago, but the others are still going strong.Bought this digital weather station so I can monitor the outdoor greenhouse, the temperature on the back deck, in the garage and the ambient temperature in the house. Discovered it takes 10, AAA batteries which set me back a day or two before it finally got it set up. Out of the box, it was way off! But after 30 minutes to acclimate, it was calibrated against the ancient high quality [west] German analog technology. The digital sensors' humidity read a full 10% below what my gauge read, so that got adjusted to match inside (the humidity reading for the sensors going outdoors was not adjusted). It wasn't too hard to setup up as long as you follow the directions in order. It can even sound an alarm if the greenhouse gets too hot or too cold. The instructions say not to exposed the sensors to direct sunlight, so that took special placement in the greenhouse to keep it in the shade. So far, the sensors aren't having any problems transmitting from outside in the backyard (50 yards away), through the walls of the garage or the backdoor slider. I will update this review on how long the batteries last, or if it starts to flake out. It won't get 5 stars till its preformed well for a few months.

Top

I had purchased this set for my dad as a gift, and after seeing it in action, I bought a second set for my house. I needed to monitor the humidity in our attic, which is an unheated third story (with full floorboards) of our old 1902-built house. I mention this because the walls are made of a cement/plaster mix with full-cut lumber and full cut thick wood planked floors, as compared to today's sheet-rocked walls. I put another monitor in the basement. I have some mobility issues, so these units have saved me much stress and dealing with difficult stairs when monitoring our attic and basement. When all transmitters were initially set next to each other, the readings were all the same - yeah! - no need to calibrate. Now, the monitor unit is on main floor, one on second floor, one in attic, and one in the basement. All working perfectly. No change of any batteries needed yet (put in service in January). About my dad's units: he monitors a water well on another property that has an insulated lid over it. So he takes his home base unit with him over to the property. When he arrives, he simply takes out the receiving display unit battery, reinserts it, and the little unit that he placed under the well lid syncs right up again. Perfect - he doesn't have to leave his car or lift the lid to know the humidity and temperature under the lid (important for monitoring possible leaking, and freezing). NOTE: These are water resistant, NOT water proof. We place that one on the ground right next to the well pipe. Would buy these again for gifts - very well made, high quality feel. NOTE: If you found this review helpful, please click the "Yes" button. Thank you.

I'll start off by saying that I like this product. I've only been using it a couple days now, which I realize isn't a long time, but I've fiddled with it enough during that time to know what's what. Overall it's a nice system.CONS:1. The base unit really needs some sort of backlit display. It is impossible to read the unit in the dark, and even in the light you have to pick it up and position it "just right" to read it.2. I don't trust one of the remote sensors. I have two of them on the back patio, positioned about 15-20 feet apart from each other; one under a patio cover and one more exposed. The temperature readings between the two this morning (before the sun came out) were only two degrees off, which is good; but the relative humidity measurements were 70% and 99%! 99% humidity in San Diego? I admit we HAVE had a humid summer (for like the 3rd or 4th year in a row!), but nowhere near 99%; and there's no way there could be that much difference in a distance of 20 feet. The indoor sensor this morning said it was 83 degrees in the bedroom. Again, yes it's a hot summer, but I had a ceiling fan running on 'high' all night and it was 74 degrees outside. It's not impossible, but it seems unlikely. One of the features of this unit is that it can be calibrated; but of course you need special equipment to do it, available from Ambient Weather for an extra charge, of course.3. The remote sensors do not come with a stand and are not meant to be free-standing. Sure, you can set one of the sensors down on a table, but the instructions say they should be in a vertical position for best performance. You're really expected to "mount" these on a wall, fence, etc.4. The buttons on the base unit are flimsy/sloppy and not always responsive. I'm guessing made in China?5. The "comfort icon" (I think that's what they call it) is a complete joke; I can't even come up with descriptive enough words to express its utter uselessness. Just remember that under 45% humidity is "dry", over 65% is "wet", and anything in between is "comfortable". At least that's how Ambient Weather delineates it.6. No A/C adapter for the base unit. It takes TEN (10) AAA batteries to run this station out-of-the-box (two per remote sensor and four for the base); 20 if you run a full eight channels. Anything that reduces the number of batteries required is a good thing.7. No clock... but really, this isn't a big thing considering I have the base unit sitting next to my alarm clock.8. Anything "wireless" is subject to interference, and the remote sensors are no exception. I had to relocate one of the sensors in order to haveit connect with the base unit. This probably shouldn't really be listed as a "con"; that's just a normal limitation of wireless transmission.9. You can add up to five more remote sensors to this system, but have you seen the price for extra sensors??? $10.50 + $7.90 shipping as I write this. Also, if you do add more sensors, not all the product features are available for channels 4-8.PROS:1. The whole concept of wireless remote sensors, being able to determine the outdoor temperature without actually having to step outdoors or mount a gigantic gaudy thermometer that can be viewed through a back window.2. The remote sensors display their information. This is the #1 reason I went with this unit. I mean, really... what good does it do to have sensors that don't display their info? Are you supposed to walk around the house all day with the base unit attached to your belt in order to figure out the temperature if you're standing right in front of one of the sensors? Sheesh!3. Although I personally won't make much use of the alarm features, I can understand how useful they could be. If you had a wine cellar, for example, that had to be kept within a certain temperature range (or a humidor that needed to be kept in a certain range of humidity), you would want to know when the ambient environment became out-of-range and take action to remedy it. The only problem, of course, is that you have to be within earshot of the base unit to hear the alarm, but that's life.4. If you lose the connection with one of the remote sensors, you can push a sequence of buttons on the base unit to sync back up. I couldn't believe some of the reviews I read for other products, where they would have to gather all the remote sensors and base unit together, pull the batteries out of all of them, and then reinitialize the entire system. Ridiculous!5. When the package arrived I was surprised at how compact everything is. The base unit doesn't take up much of a footprint; nor do the sensors.6. Ability to add more remote sensors.I know I listed more "cons" than "pros", but that's because everything else works the way I would expect it to. I like this weather station overall. I do think it's on the pricey side of the spectrum, but that's just one man's opinion; and at least you get three sensors in the package.

the delivery is quite slow due to the delay of canadian custom... well we all know.the item is very well built, the setup process give you a typical old school feature device feeling and need some learning curve. however once setup, it works very well and flawless. I'm very happy with the result.PS. once setup leave the sensors in the environment for an hour or two to get them to adjust themselves and reflect the most accurate reading.even manual says the signal doesn't pass through metal but in my case it work just fine.
