It is easy to install and definitely tightens down the hitch to the receiver and leaves no rattle. So if that is what you want, buy it. I’m told by old timers that a somewhat lose hitch and rattle is normal and may be ok. So the question is when buying this, do you want no rattle or noise?, which you’ll get with this, but then you have to leave you’re hitch in all the time, or take it apart after each use, or put up with the looseness and noise. But for what this item promises to do I give it 5 stars ++++.

The hitch on my 2019 Subaru Ascent has a very short distance (~1 in) between the collar of the hitch and where the stinger makes drop downward for the ball mount. To make the antirattler work, had to mount it with the plate on top, the u-bolt coming up from the bottom side and the nuts on top. Once I figured out how to mount the device it works very well. The hitch and ball mount are solid and like one unit A little of powder coat or paint was chipped off the back edge of plate when received, but otherwise very nice.

My Allen bike rack (1 1/4" hitch) on my Prius was very wobbly, swaying side to side. This hitch tightener made it solid as a rock! I wish I had noticed that the bolt is not metric though, because all my tools are metric. But that's my own fault. I used an adjustable wrench to tighten and it worked fine. I just loosen it a little and leave the tightener attached to the bike rack when I remove it from the car, so all I have to do is tighten a bit when I reinstall the bike rack. Wish I had known about these long ago, and I think they should come with the bike rack!

I have been towed ~2,000 lbs camping trailer several times so far and the trailer hitch causes so much vibration and rattling that damaged wear on the shaft of a hitch. I looked for anti-rattle device and found this. I got this and installed which was very easy and intuitive. After towing my trailer a couple of miles for testing, I immediately noticed that the rattling sound was completely gone. So far so good. Need to test for a longer trip to see whether it stops from wearing the shaft of the hitch.

I needed something to stabilize my bike rack to the hitch on my Honda CR-V. The hitch was 2" and the bike rack had a 1 1/4" coupling. So my bike rocked like a hobby horse on the back of my car with that setup. But neither the hitch installer (U-haul) nor the bike rack people (1-Up Bike racks) could help me. But Googling "hitch stabilizer" did the trick, sending me to Amazon. I was able to install the plate/bolt assembly quickly and easily within 10 minutes...including time searching for a wrench. The rack is now very stable and no more rocking-horse-bike. BTW, I'm a 73-year-old grandmother. So if I can do this anyone can (except my non-handyman husband.

These work great! Got two. One for the hitch extension too. No more wobbles!Didn't have one on our last trip, and the bike carrier wobbled from VA to FL and back... almost. When we were almost home, the wobble finally broke the cotter pin and our whole bike rack + bikes fell off! Luckily, this happened in a quiet parking lot, and there was no damage. But what if that happens when you're riding down the road? You NEED these things. Trust me on this one. We learned the hard way. These are very heavy. It's good shipping is free. :)

Anyone searching for this will see many others on the market that are basically the same thing, a heavy duty U bolt and a plate with washers and nuts. This one is the best of the lot that I could find. Comes with 30 days return guarantee as well as Lifetime Warranty (whose "lifetime"?)Anyway, this simple device works, just follow the instructions and do not over tighten the 3/4" nuts. I keep a small 1/4" ratchet and a deep well 3/4" socket in my SUV to make it easy to find when hooking up my trailer. I only install the ball mount/draw bar when I want to take the boat out sinceI have a 14" long shaft ball mount with 6" drop to work with my SUV and boat trailer. It made noises with the play inside the receiver box opening.NOT anymore! This device simply does what it says it will do. It works, enough said.
