To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure that I have ever spent such a quantity of time thinking thoughts about or relating to aprons such that I would be able to tell you what would personally constitute a five-star apron, let alone determine what criteria might be fair thresholds between the different ratings. Having admitted this, the only reason I might deduct stars from a rating would be to reflect some level of dissatisfaction with the product, such as non-functional pockets, a persistent smell, or some similarly confounding or offensive feature. There are no such defects with this product that I am aware of.The material seems reasonably durable, and the pockets seem to have sufficient depth to contain whatever cooking tools you might desire. Additionally, I find that the waist straps are long enough to wrap around once and tie in front, creating a belt of sorts that might provide an opportunity to hang extra-long tongs or a hand towel if you find they do not fit within the pockets to your satisfaction.With a critical eye, I would be somewhat surprised if the logo/decals would stand up to machine washing over time - it may eventually be necessary to hand-wash the garment to preserve the decoration, but you may share my sentiment in considering the minimum dirtiness to warrant cleaning for an apron to be higher than, say, a t-shirt, in which case I suspect this apron should last for quite some time.The last point I wish to make is that this is rather expensive for what it is - if you indeed have a grandmother who is so culinarily-inclined that she would make use of such an apron, *and* is a student, alumna, or just an Arizona State University enthusiast, this will likely make an excellent gift. However, if you, like me, find the humor of owning and utilizing an "ASU Grandma" apron to be the main selling point, it is priced at the upper edge of what I was (apparently) willing to pay.However I am the sort of man who will get great joy out of wearing this apron, and I find all the features and construction to be bonuses.
