I love this Aulos Hakka 703B. It is even better than my other two sopranos from Yamaha. Warm deep tone, perfect intonation. Recommended.

There are not as many choices of very good plastic soprano recorders as you might think: Zen-On Stanesby, Yamaha 300 and 400 series (YRS-302BIII, YRS-322B, YRS-324B, YRS-312B, YRS-314BIII, YRS-402B), Kulossa Music Garden and Aulos 703B Haka and Symphony 503B. After having tried them all, and although the differences are not very big, the two best ones for me are undoubtedly the Aulos 703B Haka and the Music Garden, designed by Doris Kulossa.As for the order, the recorder arrived without any problem and I received the model I had ordered.

After opening, I played a few scales and some songs, and after a while the low notes, C to F without the octave sound fuzzy and off, and also squeak but then return to normal after a while, how does this happen? Is this normal? Will the sound become consistent over a period of playing the instrument?

I don’t have the ear of a professional musician, but when I play this soprano recorder against my four other sopranos, there is a definite rich smoothness that seems very obvious to me. Intonation is also quite excellent. With proper care this instrument will provide enjoyment for years. The few additional dollars is worth every penny.

This is a lovely recorder. Has a nice tone to it, and a strong bell note. Doesn't sound Plastic-y or shrill. A bit expensive, but worth it.
