I order 3 of these and one of them was not in the bag just throned in the box and no instructions on how to put together but I did figure out. The top keeps popping off

Nothing special here. just some flimsy plastic, no timers or "automatic" buttons or levers...just gravity. So the food gets stuck and my fat cat can continue to eat till its all gone, or till it gets stuck. Nothing in police to keep it from getting stale. the filter for the water is so stupid, I can promise bacterial was growing after day-1.

I don't have anything negative to say about this cat feeder but it is important to consider what dry cat food you use. The brand I've been using doesn't freely feed itself down into the feeding bowl. It gets hung up and I have to get the kibbles to come out myself where the cat can eat it. If I didn't, it doesn't come into the bowl. The water container works and has a filter but it would be better if the water bowl held more water. I have a little chihuahua who has to have a bigger separate bowl of water because neither the cat nor the dog will drink from the small one in the feeder. I have a cat who likes to "steal" things and he's a big cat. While I was asleep one night, he stole the lid to the food compartment and I haven't been able to find it. My hunch is that he didn't get any food to come out so he took the lid off, ate some food, and then played with the lid and it may be under the recliner or something. I won't name the brand of food because it's a good food, but suffice to say that it's a dry food that's a bit on the larger size with a variety of shapes and for some reason, it just gets hung up in the opening. So just get a small kibble that's round and not angular and you might not have trouble. There isn't anything wrong with the feeder otherwise. In addition to being sure to consider the food shape, I'd suggest that maybe smaller, younger cats would do better with it.

We recently took on two kittens and I wanted something so I wasn’t constantly filling the water bowl. I love that this has a small removable grate to remove the random food pellets that always wind up in the water bowl. I love that you can move the window up and down to control how much food is being released. My only caveat to this is unfortunately the water bowl side. Yes, it has the grate but if the food has been sitting there for a while it disintegrates and is caught under the tray to just sit there until you can empty the unit and clean it. That just didn’t work for me and my 2 little ones. I really wanted to give this 5 stars but because of that and the fact it comes with a filter but no instructions on where it goes. We did finally figure out that it’s the filer that clips to the bottom of the grate tray. It’s still not keeping the water as clean as I want so I think i may look for a fountain.
