Make sure to check dimensions, somewhat large. Sliders are smooth but a little lose. Too much slack at the top and bottom end of the ranges.

I stupidly didn't read the reviews before I made this purchase but for serious, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.In addition to the problems listed by other users these things also get CRAZY HOT and refuse to supply a zero reading. I can't get it to read lower than 100mV. I took one apart and can see why; the wiper contact only covers half the slide range. Ridiculously poor quality on the internals.Really not worth the effort of returning and burning more carbon, but I can't trust these for any project so they're going in the recycle bin.RECAP of why not to buy these:1. Only mounts from top. Worthless.2. Mount hole directly over wiper pinout, allowing for easy/careless short.3. Terrible stepping on slide, is not smooth or gradual at all.4. Pins too large to mount on standard perf board or to mount on breadboard.5. Got crazy hot after only a few minutes of use.6. Not a single one in 10 pack would zero out. Lowest reading I got was 99mV, highest was 170mV, and the average was around 125mV.7. No documentation provided! Luckily this is a simple component that won't blow up in your face, but pins 1, 2, and 3 are 5v, wiper, and ground respectively. BUT, that doesn't matter because you should not buy this product.8. Poor quality materials and overall assembly.

These were ordered to be a stopgap on a work project. I was waiting for a new 3d hall sensor to be ordered (by the one with the power), and I needed to make it work in the meantime. I needed these for other things as well so built it temp. They are crazy accurate. Over and over again. Into the 1000s of uses already and dead on resistance. No, jumping on all but one device. Sadly, I tested it in a few ways and against the rest from the package and it was all over the place during the action. No matter the intensity of the motion. Oh, well. The rest were perfect. And perfect is rare.

Rust and some bent pins when arrived...were in just a plastic bag which had some small punctures due to the pins...probably would have shipped better if was in a sealed plastic box or at least secured the pins with Styrofoam. At least the sliders seem to slide smooth and I presume the potentiometer works.

I bought these, with the plan to use them in building a home flight simulator. Like many of the other reviews, these Pot's are NOT VERY GOOD! only 1/10 of these worked but it didn't work very well. I used an Ohm meter and with the one that was working it would get about 3/4 travel before it sporadically varied in the resistance (jumping from 1.2 to 5ohm) the rest didn't work.

Works fine, however there is a problem with these linear pots - the pin 1 leg is directly behind one of the mounting screw holes, which are both connected to ground, and there is nothing to stop the screw from touching the lead. This means if you mount this with conductive screws and screw them all the way in like I did, and have power connected to pin1, you will end up shorting this pot. Hopefully this will alleviate some of your frustrations!

As a decades experienced (and practicing) electronics technician, can tell you these are what you need to work on the next Pi/Beagle/Arduino project. Great selection of connectors/contact positions in one kit, and the contacts are of good quality. You will need the crimp tool sold separately, however those are only like $20.00 on Amazon.
