When you get a metal detector, you usually find that the phrase "you get what you pay for" is exactly right. So seeing that this model was so economically affordable, I first thought it would not be able to detect multiple types of metals and would not have some of the bells and whistles that the more expensive brands do.I can proudly say that I was wrong. This can detect money, jewelry, silver, iron, nails, and can tell you what you're detecting on the screen. And since I'm deaf in my right ear, the headphones that come with it are an added blessing.I will give you one warning though... you can increase the sensitivity of the detector which also increases metal that it picks up above ground. For instance, when looking for metal underground that is in close proximity to an Air Conditioner unit, it will pick up the background metals from the AC unit first. So be cautious when you adjust the sensitivity.But it's a good bargain for the beginning metal detecting enthusiast.

I got this for my son to take camping as a boredom-curing activity. His first day out with it, he found $2 in change and a chain that we were able to clean up for him to wear. It seems pretty accurate and he is having a ball with it so far. It's all very easy for him to put together and use at 13, and it comes in a bag so he can carry it easily on his hunt for buried treasure!

This was easy to get set up and start searching the property for buried treasure. Didn't find the pot of gold yet but I do like the depth meter and included accessories and i found a few small antique nails from an old barn in our property. Looking forward to some other detecting.

THIS IS SO MUCH FUN! I have always wanted a metal detector just for fun to see how it worked and now I can not stop using it. Its so fun to just see what you could find!

We run a non profit coffeehouse that serves free meals throughout the week and also has drop in times for coffee and chat...general purpose gathering center for many in our area that haven't got a lot of places that they feel welcome...that includes some gents that prefer living outdoors to being in a housing project.It was with a couple of our guests in mind that I decided to take advantage of this metal detector through the Vine Voice program. I'm glad that I have done so because several visitors and a regular volunteer have made use of it to find items of interest.It was easy to use right out of the box with minimal setup and has worked well for finding more surface level metal objects. It even registered the quarter that the flooring specialists used as a plug for a hole in the wooden floor that was just sanded and refinished several months ago...see pic :) I imagine that task wasn't much of a chore for a metal detector though.I doubt this device is going to make anyone rich finding precious metals, but I could see it finding lost keys or other items that can get away from you easily. It is a solid looking device with a variety of puzzling buttons and gauges that I don't understand, but others have figured out.Worthwhile item to have on hand

The coil and distance this thing picks up small bits of metal is impressive compared to a couple other ones I have tried in the same price range (at least with my limited experience with them.) The material feels a little better made not like I'm holding a flimsy toy at least, not necessarily premium but not like it won't make it a season either. Putting this thing together caused no problems but working through the settings was different from some other metal detectors but once you figure out its cycle settings its pretty user friendly and easy to remember. While it could be a bit more comfortable in the arm strap its not altogether bad and wouldn't be too difficult to use for short bursts without being overly unpleasant.All in all I think a pretty good entry into the hobby and just a fun thing to try out alongside letting nieces and nephews try it out which can keep them occupied for a while.
