They work, the bike is rideable again, for reference I also replaced the clutch plates. However the clutch still slips if you really hammer it. Wide open at 8 or 9 thousand rpms, it slips.

I use these on a Yamaha XVS 650. All of the clutch becomes heavier, shifting becomes significantly more stable no more slipping issue at all.Even though the clutch is heavier it's still lighter than Harley.

I’ve been dealing with a slipping clutch for years. Replaced the clutch, no change installed “heavy duty” springs, no change. Put these springs in, no slip. I’m a happy camper. The clutch pull is heavier, as is to be expected, but acceptable.

I bought these springs for the slipping issue at 4th and 5th gear on my vstar 650. They say these springs are the only way to prevent the issue from happening. I will edit this review once I install these springs.

I had a clutch slip problem when riding with 50+ mph and switching between 4th and 5th gear. After some research I found it's how the V Star 650 is designed. The replacement is as easy as it gets, but you'll need to get yourself a new gasket (which is the hardest thing to replace actually). The Barnett springs are stiffer and a bit longer (at least with my case) than the stock springs. Everything works perfect now, my friction zone have moved a bit after I've reinstalled the springs, but it feels much snappier and there's no clutch slip anymore. Great product.

I was recommended this product by a V Star 650 modifications forum. They described the slipping clutch issue I was having as the result of a design decision. Seems the XVS650 that I think is a great machine to pull my 200 lbs around on my 66 mile round trip commutes to and from work, was actually designed as a ladies bike. So, Yamaha specified lighter springs so that new lady riders would have less issue pulling in the clutch lever. After using the Barnett spring set, my slipping issue is gone. And, the clutch pull difference is barely noticeable to me. I'd like to thank both "Barnett Clutches and Cables" as well as the "V-Star 650 How To's" site.Jack Houman, Dacula, GA
