So, after weeks of reading reviews, watching videos and talking to people about a rain diverter for a water catchment system I decided most people were of the opinion that 1. The plastic mass produced models were just junque 2. Many didn't have a way to bypass when the barrels were full 3. Were ugly 4. HOAs didn't like em. So I bought this diverter- it matched my gutters, could be run to the system or bypassed, wasn't ugly. And this sucker WORKS! In ONE storm I filled two 60 gallon rain barrel in about 2 hours. The ONLY problem, that I took away one star for is that retrofitting this guy means moving your gutter downspouts. We had just had our gutters replaced, so I had to disassemble the gutter up to the joint to install the diverter but that shifted one side about 3" to the left, and the other to the right. So the straps that secure the gutter downspouts to the house also had to be moved. It's not exactly plug and play. And to divert the rain water to the barrels or the bypass now requires me to get on a ladder to change the setting. I know this is easily addressed with Mr. Hacksaw but the wife doesn't want him anywhere near her new, several thousand dollar, leaf guarded, fancy brown gutters. But the quality of this diverter is top notch, maybe not $40 but I dunno, it WORKS- absolutely no doubt and you get nearly 100% of the water to either side, and being aluminum should last a long time. I would absolutely buy it again, but would have been better off having it incorporated when the gutters were replaced.

Works great to divert water to and away from our water barrel. In winter, we'll just empty the barrel and send the water straight down the spout. It used to be a big deal to winterize our water barrels, now we'll just flip the switch.
