Bought for business trip. Discovered while on business trip that it doesn't work with Dell-branded laptops. It simply won't latch on. Wasted money because I am passed the return period

I bought this lock to secure a laptop that sits on my desk for months at a time. I lost the key! Very dumb on my part, I know. But thank goodness this lock is so weak!I thought I would need to bring in bolt cutters or another tool. But it only took 30 seconds and my bare hands! The little metal clip that goes inside the laptop is the "weak link". The rest is really quite secure. But if you simply bend the clip as far as it will go in one direction, and then the other, you can break it in about 20 or so bends!!! Zero damage to the laptop and no tools needed!I was really happy I wasn't going to have to resort to power tools to undo my mistake!! But seriously? As a security measure, this device is just sad!Total fail!

We purchased these for the office for employees to use when traveling. Therefore, we wanted a keyed lock since these would be checked in & out by employees (regular travelers have nicer combo locks). Given our parameters, this works pretty well. It's a great theft deterrent (it's a sturdy lock). The metal/plastic piece going into the laptop slot wiggles around in the kengsington slot, but I think it's actually sturdier than it seems. These are easy to operate and come with a pouch. It will definitely work against a casual thief.

This is a very rudimentary laptop security system and just enough justifies its price tag. The lock and the mechanism looks silly and inelegant, but does the job. I am giving 3 stars because I think this silly thing could be even cheaper. Again, it does its job.

I wish I had researched this more before buying. It's a good lock, seems sturdy, and the parts all feel very solid, but there are WAY too many parts! The lock requires: 1) pivot lock that goes into the computer (which is probably secure, but has a lot of wiggle room which doesn't give me great confidence), 2) the steel cord 3) lock, and 4) key. Way too much stuff to carry around, and too many little parts that could get lost along the way. Wish I spent the extra $20 to get a combo lock that's all in one. The one saving grace is that it comes with a bag to hold all the parts.

At first, I wanted a combination lock. But after doing some research, I realized they really aren't reliable unless they cost around $70. I got this for $12, and its very sturdy, includes 2 keys, and a case. I'm very impressed with the value of this lock.

I was excited to order this lock, since it is very affordable. On first examination, it was strong and adequate. Unfortunately there is a part of it that can be broken. A small high school girl was able to twist the lock and break the little metal parts that go into the laptop. I was sad, but glad I had only bought one so I didn't waste a lot of money.

This a cheap lock but it does the job I want. I have no illusions that any of those cable locks really protect your laptop. I believe any cable lock can be cut; it's just a matter of how easily it can be done. I lock the door to my office if I'm going to leave for more than 10 mins so I just needed a 10 mins stalling time for any thieves; a cheap lock was enough. I have a HP TX1000 series tablet and it works fine. The little clip cannot come off no matter how much you twist it around. It doesn't look that strong, so if you want a strong lock you'll probably have to pay more.edit: got a new laptop, also works fine with the dm4 series.
