Outside diameter is 2.561, so it won't fit in a 2.5 inch handle. Modifying it would ruin any precision you require on your threads and it's also hardened steel, so good luck with that. Bummer, I was hoping to do this job for cheap. They obviously use metric conversion instead of properly manufacturing it using SAE measurements.Look elsewhere.

I bought this die to add threading on a buffer tube. Worked out perfect. I wouldn't suggest using it on a daily basis as I don't know of the longevity of the steel.A place of tape measure on the die. If you intend to use a die holder. I used a couple of rags, a vice grip, and an armorers wrench to get the job done
