I have flexible solar panels because I am 70 years old and did NOT want to drill holes into the top of my bus and mount a rack system and then attempt to drag 40 pound solar panels up on the roof. What I have are flexible solar panels that from my investigations work well so long as they are attached to coroplast (corrugated plastic) to provide some "insulation" under the panels - solar, heat, needs relief from that heat and the coroplast has channels of air space to keep the panels from overheating. Anyway, when I cut the coroplast to fit for the solar panels, I used marine sealant to adhere the panel and coroplast together. This butyl tape was used to "line" the edges of the "sandwich" of the panel/coroplast. I will use more of this butyl tape to adhere the "sandwich" to the roof of my bus. The only issue I had was peeling the plastic away from the very sticky back of the tape! Tells you how good and sticky the stick'em is on this tape, that's for sure! It was easy to use and seal around the four edges of the "sandwich" of my solar panels and the coroplast. Works as it should.

We have had to use quite a bit of butyl tape recently for a deck repair and to protect a series of exposed joists that could not be covered any other way and to join some seams. It is a great tape. Adheres well, easy to pull from the roll, easy to cut and at a decent price point. It's also fairly thick. We have a few deck pieces that are going to be subject to 'friction wear' and I am pretty confident this will last for quite some time, years, protecting the wood joists.

I was just hoping this relatively cheap joist tape would be close enough to the stuff at my local big box store to make it worth the savings. It turns out I like it a lot more! First of all, it is a full two inches wide, making it easy to put down the tape without fiddling too much with centering it perfectly over a 2-inch nominal (1½") joist. The big box rolls are only 1-5/8 inches, so you only have 1/16 inch margin on each side. Beyond that, the material of this tape is more rubbery and flexible, not only making it seem more appropriate for waterproofing, but also making it easier to form around flaws in the joist. I feel more confident that this tape will protect my deck.So why only four stars and not five? Well, there is one flaw in this tape that is very annoying. All too often, the plastic backing tears as I peel it off to lay down the tape, leaving a partial strip of backing behind. So I have to lift the last section up and pick at the adhesive and backing to try to get it to peel off correctly again. Maybe it was just a flaw in my roll, but it's something to be aware of. I would probably still buy it again if needed.

Good joist tape, initial quality is good, very sticky so it stays in place, only time will tell of durability, good lenght for the price!

This is excellent tape for the rabbit enclosure my I made. I had heard of joist tape but wasn't really sure what it was, and when I looked it up, it seemed ideal for for protecting some of the wood portions of the enclosure from the elements. The enclosure doesn't have any real joists or support -- it is just made of 2 X 4's and chicken wire. But the tape is working great for the base and corners. The tape is thick, heavy and very, very sticky. The 2" width is easy to handle. The tape adheres very well to the wood and once I got the hang of it, it is pretty easy to do a neat job of wrapping. The price seems very reasonable and the 50' length means that I still have quite a bit of tape left over for another project.

If you are building outside you need to use Black Joist Tape for Decking. It will save you from your floor joists from rotting out due to screw and nails holes cause be decking. I like that the width is 2" because it allows the tape to extend over the sides of a standard joist. The tape backing peels off very easy and sticks really well. The quality is great and you cant beat the price. fast shipping

I'm involved in a crawl space encapsulation and found a few places where the vapor barrier has pulled away from the concrete block where double sided butyl tape was used.I decided I wanted to try joist tape to help the butyl tape and seal the gaps where the vapor barrier meets the concrete blocks. This Chuangdang Joist tape is tightly rolled and the paper stays stuck to the roll, this doesn't seem like much but it helps prevent the tape from falling out from the center and helps to keep trash from sticking to the sides when you lay it down but doesn't interfere with enrolling. It has excellent adhesion to the vapor barrier and the concrete block.I prepared the surface of the concrete block by scrubbing it with a wire brush. It's easy to mold and maneuver around odd shapes and sticks well to the odd contours of the cinder blocks. It's easier to remove the film backing than other joist tapes I've used because the clear film is thicker making it less frustrating to get it started.I would definitely get more to have for emergency repairs.
