Functionally, this a great companion accessory for traveling with a laptop that does not have its own numpad. It has a detachable cover underneath it where the battery compartment and optional USB radio dongle are located. As far as using this dongle, I have found that it is often convenient to use the built-in Bluetooth support primarily. But both Bluetooth and the wireless dongle are reliable and responsive to keypresses. There are also rubber pads below this numpad to help it stay put on smooth surfaces.I would not say this is a particular high-quality keypress experience for daily input. The device is very lightweight plastic and due to its low profile, the keys are about what I would expect. They are membrane activated, with soft tactile feedback that is sometimes hard to register without looking at the output. There is thankfully a small, raised nub on the 5 key for reorientation, although it is a little lower on the key than I normally prefer. Additionally, the labeling for calculator only mode is a dimmed orange-yellow and can be a little hard to read in low lightingBut with those critiques aside, they are really the only physical details that stood out to me that could use improvement. As for usage the only critique I have is I think power management could have been designed a little better to where an on-off switch was not needed. For example, when switching between keypad and calculator mode, the pad stays wirelessly connected where I think it would have been a simpler idea to include a radio on/off toggle to the two radio keys to help conserve battery when using only as a calculator and not sending results. That said, the battery life with two AAs is pretty good so far, even after I have left it unattended while on. So there definitely is some smart power management happening to preserve charge when wireless paired. What really stands out and makes this numpad special is its hybrid keypad/calculator versatility. It can be used on its own as a basic calculator, complete with memory functions and all of the common operators including modulus (%). It also allows easily switching between calculator and keypad mode to do quick calculations and send back just the results. For example, if entering values into a spreadsheet, instead of having to switch to the regular keyboard to fill out cells and work out a formula, I have found it sometimes more convenient to use this numpad in calculator mode, tally up numbers I do not necessarily want in the spreadsheet, then press the "send" button on the numpad to send the result as a series of keyboard strokes to whatever cell is selected. That is the one really special aspect of this numpad that makes it stand out compared to most others I have used.Overall, I think this is a great product idea that has versatility and innovation as its main quality. The keys are a good medium quality membrane-based variety, but for the convenience of travel convenience this is fine compared to the more tactile, and heavy, mechanical key based numpads. I think it's a great value for what it does and fills a use case I never realized I wanted until I tried it out.

The one regret that I had in purchasing a 14 inch laptop is that there was no dedicated keypad for occasions when I needed one. This keypad solves that problem. Additionally, I have a desktop computer upstairs that has a keyboard that doesn't have a number pad (Logitech MX Keys Mini) that this will be perfect for. It looks and feels of good quality, and is very easy to connect to your Bluetooth. I haven't had it long enough to evaluate the battery life, but I've got plenty of AAA batteries available. A very nice feature is the calculator, which obviously can be used separate from the computer connection, and there have been many occasions in which I have utilize the Windows calculator simply because I did not have a regular calculator available. In essence, this does what it claims to do, feels to be of good quality, connects to your Bluetooth easily, and looks good to boot!

In keyboard mode, it doesn't seem to be holding Num Lock. I think it's related to sleep mode because it always happens when I first start using it after no use for several minutes, but instead of hitting a button and nothing happens because it's asleep, I hit 3 (for example) and I get page down instead. But the Num Lock light is on. After that it seems to remember Num Lock is supposed to be on, so now 3 is 3, but I have to page up first. Too much fumbling around, waste of time, defeats the purpose of the device. In calculator mode, if I enter numbers quickly, some digits get duplicated.

Update: After having used this for a bit, I've reverted to using the keyboard again. The one thing this thing is really missing for proper data entry, is a tab key. Without tab, I have to continue to use the keyboard or the mouse in combination with this, which defeats the purpose. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the screen could be at a better viewing angle to be able to read it from arms length on a desk vs having to be directly over it.This thing is great if you have any kind of job that requires data entry or working with data. I can reduce clutter on my desk by shelving the old calculator in favor of this keypad/calculator combination. The only reason I'm dinging it a star is because it doesn't have an internal, rechargeable battery.

I received this keyboard today and it works perfectly.• It worked right away with no configuration needed, and all the keys seem to be working well.• I was able to free up some desk space by using a smaller keyboard and bringing this one out whenever I need to use the numbers.• My only issue is that it requires batteries; I didn’t realize that before ordering because I assumed modern products were rechargeable rather than battery powered. But overall, it works well, so I believe it’s a good investment.
