Your cart is empty.This ebony Bombard is 12.25 inches long, the bell is 3 inches in diameter. Comes with a cane reed. The bombard is a small, double-reed instrument, similar to a soprano shawm in range but shorter in length. A bombard in the key of D is slightly shorter than a soprano recorder in the key of C. These play in D with all the holes closed. Bombards are still used in some Celtic music. They are quite loud, despite their small size. Their tone is high and penetrating.

Just to be clear, this is a sopranino instrument, meaning it is pitched half an octave higher than a soprano instrument.

I love Breton music and play the great Highland Bagpipe so I bought the Bombard. The instrument has good workmanship but there were no instructions. So, I downloaded a Tutor. Looking forward to learning to play it.

Purchased as present for my daughter. She was able to play a scale as soon after opening as she wet the reed. She is very happy with it.Would like to see more product offerings from this vendor, a welcome addition to Amazon.
