I use it to thread the tangs of bowie knives, Works great! Don't forget to use oil! Also like that the corners are slightly rounded over and smooth. I have another brand that the corners are so sharp that I have to wear gloves.

I was surprised that this was one of the cheapest dies on Amazon, but I expected Bosch quality. I now know why this die was cheap. I'm an experienced machinist, but it was like pulling teeth to get a clean start with this die on 1/4" mild steel rod. It was taking an average of 1/2 hour to cut a single thread. My cheap Chinese dies start easier and cut better. What a waste of time and money.

Unlike the item pictured in the web-site - this is what you receive (as others have pointed out too - thank you). Proper, quality Bosch packaged die with much better cutter action than some other ones listed.

I had a set of dies that had a tap 1/4 - 20 but didn’t have a 1/4 - 20 die. Would would have thought that the set would have a die for each tap, so I ordered this die. Good quality and worked fine.

Had to replace this size die in my set.Bosch makes high quality products whether in the US. Germany or in this instance China.The photo currently on Amazon is not accurate.The photos I'm including are what I received.
