The narrow width means that the butter has to be laid on its side, and if it's straight out of the fridge considerable force is needed - I usually use goat's butter, which is especially solid. The slices are a little wide - a bit too big for muffins, but fine for crumpets and jacket potatoes. Washing up is simple, although the wires do get somewhat coated with butter. I don't think I'd use this for a hard, Enlish cheese, and a soft cheese would probably gum up the works. Goat's butter - fine; cow's butter - OK; everything else - probably not.

This butter slicer is functional but nothing special. It does the job of slicing butter, but it doesn’t stand out in any way. The quality feels a bit cheap, and it requires quite a bit of effort to use, especially with butter straight out of the fridge. It’s also not very versatile, as it struggles with harder cheeses or softer foods. If you’re looking for something extraordinary, this might not be the best choice. It’s okay for occasional use, but I wouldn’t highly recommend it.
