Before buying B+W, I bought a Hoya ND filter to experiment with, it was ok however, there is no flexibility with a fixed-density filter so a & filter with a variable density like this one is a better choice.A few observations:Using this filter I see no point in having a UV or other types of filters to protect the lens.Although the B+W filter I bought is 49mm, the outer circle appears to be 52mm so all my colour filters are unusable until I find an adapter. Even if you don't use other filters you do, still have to buy a 52mm lens cap to protect the filter. Considering the cost of this filter they should have at least provided a lens cap for it because of the mismatch between the inner and outer diameter. In addition, if you have a Leica lens this filter would put your built-in hood out of action due to its larger size. This filter extends the brightness range so you can have the aperture wide open and yet the image dark. Finally, the best thing about this filter is the pouch that comes with it.

Sehr schnelle Lieferung.Erfüllt alle optischen Anforderungen der Fotografie. Einziges Manko. Ist nicht mit montierter Gegenlichtblende benutzbar

The lens cover of the Sony Zeiss 55 F1.8 cannot be attached to this ND filter nor can the lens sun shade be fitted when this ND filter is screwed on. Absolutely not compatible with this lens.Rated picture quality a 4 because the video with aperture set at F1.8 is still over exposed in daylight even at the maximum setting of this variable ND filter.

Don't know how I lived without this for so many years. Bliss.
