This is a decent silicone oil for heating to high temperatures. A few notes. This fluid expends a lot as you heat, somewhere around 150-180C the oil has expanded 12-15% by volume. It settles down after that. We had to add an expansion tank system to our circulating process heater to accomodate this issue of expansion. Additionally, if your process is open to air, this stuff will degrade. It starts somewhere around 200C. There's also quite a bit of fumes/smoke if you heat this in an open system like a heated circulating bath at this temperature. We ended up having to move the circulating bath into a fume hood to work with this oil at 250C. We've been using it for about a month now at these temperatures, the oil is turning brown/darker as it ages but no real noticable viscosity changes.
