Awesome unit. Fit and finish were excellent. I did however have to take the unit apart to install it (very easy to do, just do not pull the piston out of the bore and you will not need to purchase a OEM ring compressor). I was very please with the machining of this product. I would highly recommend this product. The saw is up and running with hours of use with no issues...

So far works great, it brought my ms290 back to life! Had to drill a hole for decompression value , but well worth it I've cut for 3 8 hour days no problems yet

The quality of the cylinder and piston were average. I had to do a bit of cleanup on casting edges inside cylinder. No big deal but if you don't know what to look for ,these issues may limit the life of these parts.DO NOT USE THE DECOMPRESSION VALVE!!! Spend a few dollars for a plug. If you can't start it without, you should probably operate a smaller saw. BE CAREFUL when installing flywheel. The keyway may sheer off due to the taper being slightly off. I used slow and steady pressure with a wrench vs impact. To date, the saw has several hrs of use and has great power running 20" bar.You can use the decompression plug ,but to modify it you must cut the top off and weld the hole closed. Not for beginners! Make sure to separate the bolts that come with kit from the bolts taken out of oem. They are slightly different.

This is the way to go if you're mechanicaly inclined. This does require complete teardown of your chainsaw for installation. But, the time and cost of the replacement cylinder is worth the effort. No need to purchase a new chainsaw.

I used this to rebuild a 290 that had low compression. It works good enough but quality is obviously not oem. It came assembled with RTV, but you have to take it apart to get it in the case so I had to scrape it all off. The saw runs ok. Not great but good enough for around the house.

See my original question, Telling me to dremmel a slot to put a new key in my flywheel that your assembly sheared off is not a solution. I am a mechanical engineer and the key was not the problem my original post, and does not let me follow up on a inadequate answer (you should change your system to follow up on questions)? The problem was the 2 mm shoulder in my flywheel taper that did not let the flywheel seat completely on the crankshaft it’s a locking taper , your taper is different than my old crankshaft , new taper measures 11.55mm at the end and my old taper measures 12.25mm so your shaft want to go deeper and hit that should and did not lock the flywheel which I did not notice when I assembled your assembly into my saw that is why key sheared off, new flywheels don’t show small end of taper so buying new flywheel will yield same results unless it does not have that shoulder at the small end of taper. I would gladly buy a new flywheel if I knew it had no shoulder other wise I will disassemble saw and return your item!

I should have reviewed all the reviews, Crank flywheel taper does not match the flywheel tried to tighten it on but sheared the key on the flywheel and now I not only need a new flywheel this means I have to tear it all apart to send it back. Waste of time and money.
