One of the crucible was chipped into several pieces and had crumbled remnants in the poorly packed package. They were so cheap that I didn't find it worth returning, especially since I had gold to melt and there were two others that were usable.

I ordered these crucibles for my husband, who casts metal jewelry as a hobby. He is very happy with them. He says that the quality is good, they held up well under high heat conditions when he was melting sterling silver and gold, and he will definitely continue to use them when he's making jewelry.

My husband dabbles in melting metals and is always making do when he needs a crucible. I ordered these, and I don't think he'll 'make do' again. They are a nice silica, have pouring spouts, and no doubt will make any melting task more refined. Do note that the Amazon web page cautions before melting gold and silver that borax should be placed at the bottom of the bowl to prevent the metal from sticking to the bottom of the bowl. It's great these cricibles are readily available at a reasonable price! We have not yet had a chance to use the crucibles, but I will come back and update this review if we should have any negative results.
