It's a waste of money. I used it for 3 minutes and it broke and there's no way the wire would stay in place! I'm so upset I bought it for an event and it didn't work.

It seems nice but not useful. It is small, and the cheese slips from the cutter if you use it for soft cheese like feta cheese. I prefer using a regular knife. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

I ordered this because the block of cheese in the picture had become the bane of my existence. We eat a lot of cheese at out house, and have got along for years with just the roller/wire type slicer. Enter my nemesis block of home aged cheddar.The suspect cheese would do nothing but crumble, no matter what tool I tried or how gentle I handled it. So Frustrating! Crumbles don't make good ham and cheese sandwiches! I looked at several versions of wire cutters, and chose this one. It's a winner. It cleanly sliced my problem block of cheddar without a crumble in sight. Relief!The good:The cutter itself came with 4 or 5 extra cutting wires, and they are easy to replace. The stainless is easy to clean with a rag, and it looks nice so this cutter lives on our counter now.The so so:I had to tighten a couple screws on the under side right out of the box. Not a big deal, but it's a quality control oversight. The handle isn't a perfect tight fit where it hinges, so if you're not paying attention to what you're doing you wind up with crooked slices, and can even miss the groove in the base quite easily. It's very light, and slides around the counter if you don't put pressure on the cheese and cutter. My parents have a pricier marble version which is much sturdier.Despite the drawbacks, I'm very happy with this slicer. It's a good value for what it costs. I expect we'll be using this for years to come, and would highly recommend if dollars are a factor in you choice.
