Tips are expensive and the value of these has made me invest in several different sizes. Like any machinist sometimes I’ll make a mistake and sometimes to fix that mistake you only have a tiny area you can indicate and that’s where this little guy comes in with its tiny tip. Sometimes I’ll receive a workpiece or piece of raw material with damage and with its tiny tip the indicator can slip into those tiny areas to make an assessment for correction before work begins. A must have for a machinists toolbox.

Works as stated. Just don't let anyone borrow your indicator or you'll be buying another (he broke the carbide ball off), as I am about to do.
