I did not read the item description carefully so I did not realize this was a coolant thermometer. I wanted to use it to monitor the temperature inside a battery enclosure. However, I tested the thermometer by submerging it in hot water and it seems to work as it should.

I have a fishing boat and do not have a water temperature gauge. They usually coincide with a depth gauge, but my transducer is inside the boat, so it does not have one. I wanted one and ordered this.I do understand that this is meant to measure cooling water, but I wanted to mount it to measure the river water temperature.Unfortunately, I didn't read the specs well and the number of modifications I would need to make makes it less than desirable. I would need to extend both the sensor line and the battery line.
