These go on sale a lot, they are a good deal sub $50/$60. I have had mine without issue now for 7-8 rod builds. At first I was worried about the tension rod getting too tight but it slackens out ifself as you wrap. You do not need to release tension at the spool as some videos show.Tension the spools just to where the two plastic washers barely hold the spool. This way all wrapping tension is built via the rod. If using metallics you can try first with just the rod and no eyelets except the moveable one. If this strips the metallic than you’ll need to disregard the tension rod and go straight from spool to rod using the screw adjustment as tension.Good luck happy building.

Really made it easy to do what I used to do easily when I was younger using cruder apparatus. And handy that it allows you to pause while in middle of wrapping without having to hold tension. Glad I bought it.- The nylock nuts pressed into the adjustment knobs are too stiff. Adjusting the sliding rod stands was difficult even if you had the hex key to hold the bolt head. I popped the unlock nuts out and replaced with regular nut, put a tooth washer under bolt head. - Also, the little plastic tabs to hold the reference card gets in the way if you want to slide the rod rod stands all the way in for storage. Will grind them off.
