The doors themselves are fine - good construction and fit and easy to install. I don't know whether it's worth replacing the stock doors with weighted doors and I pondered all sorts of tests to validate the effectiveness, but decided that there are too many variables for the results to be meaningful. I use my traps outside of the Golden Gate for Dungeness crabs and there's plenty of current and surge out there, thus I felt that the weighted doors would help reduce leakage caused by door flapping. I typically do short soaks, from 1 to 3 hours. I didn't really notice a large increase in the number of crabs caught, but I also didn't notice any decrease in numbers either. As a fisherman, having a "better mousetrap" is worth every penny, so I'm happy with these doors.
