Understandable design but in practice this contraption loses heat too easily whenever the lid is opened. Furthermore, the lid doesn't sit flush on the bottom, and the heating element only focuses the heat on the center 6-8 inches leaving the perimeter of the crust uncooked or unevenly cooked. Returned it after two uses.
