Accessory for J-2000, J-Lite, J-4. The standard steel contact pins, #496, have insulated shanks so that moisture content is measured only at the points, which are not insulated. The uninsulated tip area for measuremnt is approximately 3/16 in. Use the sliding hammer action to quickly measure moistrue at various levels of penetration. This is a sure way to identify a moisture gradient without cutting the wood. Maximum penitration of the #496 pins is 1-1/8 in. They can be used on softwoods and on hardwoods from 1/8 in. to 5 in.. thick or 6 in. diameter.

Drives probes into wood easily. The one dislike is the cable attachment is just a slip connection. Wish it was threaded so it is more secure.

I was having trouble assessing the moisture content on walnut and oak slabs. The surface moisture reading was not always reflective of the inside moisture. One nice thing about these is that they are coated, so you only get a reading across the very tips. The hammer works well. It comes with extra tips.

I did not want to spend the extra money when I ordered this; however, I am glad I did. I how have it and have had a number of opportunities to us it. I believe the use of just the moisture meter would give me an answer, because this allows for deeper penetration, I believe the readings are more correct.
