The ALLmeter magnetic base dial gauge is a useful tool to have in my toolbox. The magnetic base is a must and works great for checking the trueness of brake rotors and the backlash of ring/pinon gears. The kit comes in a sturdy plastic case with formed spaces for each piece, and there are extra spots for things that are not included in this set. The great thing is the base can be used to mount other dial indicators if the one included doesn’t meet your needs. Good value for money and an invaluable tool for the home mechanic.

I always like to find good tools to help in the shop. This dial indicator mount and base worked really well. Packaging was very good. Everything that came with the set fits in the case which itself is well made and should protect this for a long time. The indicator mount also fits some other metrology equipment that I have so it is a really good addition.I did compare the readings on the dial indicator to measurements taken on another, known good indicator and found it to be accurate. Also compared the dial readings to measurements from my DRO. It wasn't perfect, but well withing the the tolerance advertised on the indicator.Overall I'm super satisfied with this. Not only is the indicator plenty accurate for most shop work, but the magnetic base and mount are usable with other tools you may already have in your shop.
