This is a nice aftermarket threadless headset that does what it should... smooth steering, solid durability, and no weird creaks. The angular contact sealed bearings (AC bearings) are great for longevity and ride quality, but if you’re expecting ceramic-bearing speed, adjust those expectations. This isn’t the headset that’s going to make you suddenly faster… but at least you won’t hear your bike complaining every time you turn.

I don't get the other review that said they're not "speedy" and "won't make you faster." I didn't realize headset bearings had anything to do with speed. That makes no sense whatsoever.I build custom bikes. The integrated headset bearing set that came with the frame used all plastic pieces on top of the upper bearing with no bearing seal or grommets for the hydraulic brake lines. Those are the reasons i was looking for a replacement. This set met my requirements. It had a seal on top of the upper bearing (I wish it it had one under the bottom bearing but that's not a deal breaker for me. It also had a robust aluminum plate on top of the upper bearing and the seal (I wanted something that wasn't plastic). Also a nice touch were the grommets around the hydraulic brake lines. That's a really nice touch to keep water from getting into frame. My only complaint is the blocky shape of the aluminum plate that sits on top. Again. It's not a deal breaker or agregious enough of a shortcoming to dock a star, but it would be nice if it tapered a little bit on the sides.Overall, this is my go-to headset for integrated handlebar builds. I'll be picking up a few more to have them on-hand in my shop
