Long sharp darners run in a double size range, cotton darners in the lower like embroidery needles and yarn darners is the upper like chenille and tapestry needles. Allows multiple strands of some threads to slip through more easily. Needle sizes vary slightly, due to a difference in the eye shape. Ideally suited to running-stitch and darning stitch embroideries. Available in size 18 with comes in pack of 6 needle.

Did the job! 4th graders sewing felt "stuffies" and needed "skinnier" needles to get through layers of fabric and detail work including buttons. Love the multiple pack of same sized needles.

Fair price and they work just fine. You'll still probably want to keep metal needles of this size around. They work best for bulkier knits so you can easily hide your stitching.

First I did buy Cotton Darners size 9 needles & they happened to be very thin for me. Second I did buy needles DMC1769-18DarnersHandNeedles6-PackSize18,- it happened that Size=14!- (1):Picture is wrong-there're 7x Assorted sizes {2x12, 2x14, 2x16, 1x18} on attached picture; (2):The size I've received is really 14 instead 18 which I ordered, & 6-pack - that number is correct. But I didn't know before I ordered which size correspond what thickness & Length,- so the size 14 is happen to be - (A):sharp-point with enough sharpness for me; (B):diameter about d=~1.2 mm thick (my measurements are very approximate) in the middle of the Length of round needle#14 (x=L/2) & D=~2 mm = outer-diameter of needle in the eye (eye has inner dimensions Do=~1 mm x Lo=~6 mm - enough big for me) - that's about the thickness I needed; (C):L=2.5" Length which is a little too long but fine for me. The changing of diameter of needle is smooth enough for me. To find out which size is which I did also ordered DMC1769-18DarnersHandNeedles7-PackSize14/18 - & it has the same picture of 7-pack assorted sizes but in reality it is 5-pack assorted sizes 2x14,2x16,1x18, & needle#18 has - (A):sharp-point with enough sharpness for me; (B):diameter about d=~2 mm thick (my measurements are very approximate) in the middle of the Length of round needle#18 (x=L/2) & D=~2 mm = outer-diameter of needle in the eye (eye has inner dimensions Do=~1.5 mm x Lo=~8 mm - enough big for me) - that's about the thickness I needed; (C):L=3" Length which is too long but what should I expect when I guess from my perspective without "Darners-needles-3D-sizes chart"{#:d;L;D;Do;Lo} for each size#. Size#16 has {16:d;L;D;Do;Lo}-parameters between #14 & #18. I give 4 stars from 5- that is my opinion of quality of these needles.
